"Here's to Goodbyes..."

I think my time with xanga is comming to an end.  Lots of things have been ending in my life lately, and even more things will be comming to a close in the comming semester when I move to Huntsville.

Change is wierd my friends, but it is good.  The Lord has been giving me a new outlook in many areas, and things that I use to enjoy no longer have any substance for me to take hold of and build with.  One of these things is xanga.  It has become something that wastes my time, for I have many other things that I need to be tending to.

I enjoyed it while it lasted....

Goodbye,
Beau

"My sister..."

This post is deticated to my siter who no longer lives in the house:

One day - long ago - my sister and I where brushing our teeth in our home's bathroom.  Yes...we have one bathroom.  We where brushing away when all of the sudden she said, "Did you know that you are considered fat if you look down and can't see your toes because of your belly?"

Kind of startled I looked down and noticed I didn't see my toes. *Beau stops brushing*  "Really..."  I said in a very conserned voice.

"Yeah," my sister just before she put away her tooth brush, "are you fat?"

Beau stood silent...

"Thats too bad," she said.  Then walked out.

After she left I stood more upright and looked down again.  To my relief my toes came into sight.  The first time I looked I had been leaning against the wall and couldn't have seen my toes even if I had been in the shape of Lance Armstrong.

Sometimes I still look down at my toes when brushing my teeth and chuckle with the remembrance of her comment.

A picture for past memories:

Love you Hannah!

Blessings,
Beau

My Crazy Dog...

-- Sadie is momentarily in a dazed state after vigorously chasing her tail.

-- Now she standing over the space heater licking the rising hot air.

-- She has moved to licking the space heater.

-- Now licking me.

-- Bad dog.

"The true Christian is like sandalwood, which imparts its fragrance to the ax which cuts it, without doing any harm in return."
               --Sundar Singh

It is good to show love in unbecoming situations, but why is it so hard!?  Let us continue to ask the Lord to give us a renewed mind that thinks the way He does.  Our minds view trying situations with disgust, but a renewed mind, "considers it all joy when encountering various trials...that it may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing"  (James 1:2-4).  Seek what is good.

Give the fragrance...

"I Have to Know"

"T homas" his friend lowered his voice so as not to be heard by the guard.  "I have to ask you this favor.  I need to know if what the others say about the grace of God is true.  Tomorrow, when they burn you at the stake, if the pain is tolerable and your mind is still at peace, lift your hands above your head.  Do it right before you die.  Thomas, I have to know."

Thomas Hauker whispered to his friend, "I will."

The next morning, Hauker was bound to the stake and the fire was lit.  The fire burned a long time, but Hauker remained motionless.  His skin was brunt to a crisp and his fingers were gone.  Everyone watching supposed he was dead.  Suddenly, miraculously, Hauker lifted his hands, still on fire, over his head.  He reached them up to the living God, and then, with great rejoicing, clapped them together three times.

The people there broke into shouts of praise and applause. Hauker's friend has his answer.     (Jesus Freaks p.144-146)

"Therefore, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..."   Hebrews 12:1-3

Let us pray for the strength and boldness to love and serve the Lord with such zeal,  life is meaningless without it....meaningless.

Live to encourage,
Beau

Is Smiling Dangerous?

It is said that eyes of a man are a window to his soul, but I think his smile is the door.  There is a smile to every emotion, every personality.  The outgoing has a smile that seems to say, "Hey look at me, I'm smiling!!"  The insecure have a smile that is full of pain and empty thoughts...

'We all know we have smiles of emotion, such as happy, confused, and the "I'm angry and want to give up" smile, but smiles also reveal personalities.  Shy personalities, Haughty personalities, Funny personalities, Outgoing, Insecure personalities...the list could go on.

Did you know there is a flabbergasted smile.  I don't really know what category it is under, but it is the most telling smile.  It is rare, and comes when you behold the prettiest girl you've ever seen.  Most people call it an awed expression, but it is most definitely a smile

Anyway...all this leads to the question, "Why do some people almost refuse to smile?"  What is so dangerous about smiling?

I finally came to a conclusion...smiling reveals your true identity.  Your smile will shatter any front you have tried to build.  Your God given person is revealed in your smile.  You can't keep up a wall of disguised identity and still let out a smile and a laugh.

Yes, smiling can be dangerous, but only to those who are afraid of letting themselves be known.  I might just be on the late train, but it was a small revelation to me.

The Lord showed me this while I was driving to the golf course.  I had always been self-conscious about my laugh and smile, and the Lord told me in His loving, Fatherly way, that I needed to lighten up and not take myself so seriously.  To not just live a little, but smile a little.

I'll bet Jesus has an amazing smile...
